Your Local Costessey Magazine
Handy is delivered free to all properties in Costessey. It contains a mix of articles, recipes, puzzles and competitions. But, perhaps most importantly, it provides a low-cost solution for small businesses who need reliable advertising in a specific area.
The first issue was published in April 2020, at the start of the first lockdown. While the magazine was planned well before we knew the country was going into lockdown, it would have made sense to delay publication of the first issue until the pandemic was under control and normal life could resume.
However, it quickly became clear that businesses would need all the support they could get during what would be a challenging period. So, we pushed ahead and continued to publish our magazines every 3 months, growing and developing with each issue.
Handy has quickly established itself as a reliable and affordable advertising option for small businesses, as well as a useful source of information for readers. In 2021, Handy continues to grow with the support of our wonderful local businesses, who are reporting great results from advertising in our magazine.

After realising there was no local business advertising covering the whole of Costessey, in 2020 Lee took up the challenge of producing a new local business magazine. Using over a decade of design experience and local business knowledge, Lee put together ‘My Handy Guide’, a small magazine aimed at supporting small business while providing articles of interest for the local community.
Lee is also passionate about animals, having previously taken on volunteer roles in local pet charities.
By advertising with us, not only are you increasing awareness of your business, you are building trust in our community. This goes way further than any other form of advertising. Unlike online advertising, local magazines are a trusted and reliable source of information and contacts. Your advert reaches every household locally, whether or not they’re online, and it stays in the home, to be read again and again by residents and guests.
Leaflets may be viewed once then binned. Our magazine contains a mix of interesting articles, useful tips, tasty recipes, brain-teasing puzzles and local information. As a result, our readers hold on to our magazine until the next issue. This means your advert stays in homes for weeks if not months, and can be viewed several times by more than one person.
Our magazine is delivered to all 7,450 properties in Costessey, and growing every issue. An extra 1,000 copies of the magazine are available to pick up in locations around Norwich.
We use Royal Mail’s Door to Door service. This helps us reach more properties than other distributors, who will often miss many properties. We also send advertisers a copy of the magazine by post.
Compared to the cost of designing and distributing your own leaflets, we think Handy is extremely cost-effective. Our prices start from £9 per month, with free advert design.
