Diane Danzebrink, one of the UK’s leading campaigners for change in menopause education and awareness, and a regular expert voice on national radio and TV, is coming to John Lewis Norwich on Thursday 3rd October for a special customer evening.
At the free event, Diane will be answering questions and sharing her insight and expertise about how women can be better supported and better informed throughout all stages of the menopause. And will be ready to tackle menopause myths head on.
Taking place during International Menopause Awareness Month, no subject-matter relating to menopause will be off the cards. From hot flushes and loss of libido to anxiety, cognitive issues genitourinary symptoms, treatment options, self-care, work and relationships, Diane will be tackling all the topics that attendees wish to discuss.
The event aims to dispel menopause myths, break the taboo about talking about women’s health, and leave visitors feeling more informed and empowered about how to get the support they need and deserve.
World Menopause Day falls on 18th October every year. This year’s official theme, which is set by the International Menopause Society (IMS), is Menopause Hormone Therapy, known more commonly as HRT. A sometimes confusing and controversial subject area, it can leave women with more questions than answers, and is a topic Diane feels passionate about. She will be ready to impart straight-forward, accurate, and balanced information on the night.
A qualified experienced personal therapist and wellbeing consultant with professional nurse training in menopause, Diane is also the founder of not-for-profit organisation Menopause Support the author of the recently published Making Menopause Matter and leads the UK’s #MakeMenopauseMatter campaign. Now living in Norfolk, she wants to get better support for women living in the local area.
Diane explains; “We are still suffering from the residual effects of the widespread panic caused by the Women’s Health Initiative research in 2002, which left harmful, false medical claims about HRT use, unhelpful myths and a lot of confusion. Decades on, we now know that, when prescribed correctly, HRT can be incredibly beneficial for women who are perimenopausal, in menopause, or post-menopausal. But it can be a minefield, with women often still confused about what the benefits are and whether it’s the right course of medical intervention for them. Of course, for some it isn’t, but for others, it can be positively life changing. I can help to answer any HRT questions on the night.
“I’m hoping to see lots of people at John Lewis on 3rd October, women and men too, where we can address anything about the menopause that has been worrying them. If anyone would prefer to ask something anonymously, John Lewis is accepting questions ahead of the evening which can be submitted online.”
Diane continues; “Please don’t struggle alone, if you have been looking for answers, or want to know how you can help someone you care about through this stage of their life, please join us.”
To submit a question for Diane to answer, please complete this Google Form – all details will be deleted after the event.
The event takes place at The Balcony café in John Lewis Norwich on Thursday 3rd October, 5pm to 7pm.
