The only store of its kind in Norwich, Ernie’s Zero Waste allows customers to shop sustainably, with no plastic waste. All products stocked are vegan, cruelty free and environmentally friendly.
Previously based at Anglia Square, Ernie’s Zero Waste Store opened at Castle Quarter on Tuesday 5 August at 10am.
Founded by Graham Rutherford in 2019, Ernie’s Zero Waste Store sells a wide variety of unpackaged food, such as nuts, rice, pasta, cereals and dried fruit, plus environmentally conscious food items such as oils, vinegars, chocolate, tea and coffee. In addition, it stocks cleaning refills, a range of personal care items and a selection of sustainably produced household items and even toys. The store offers a click-and-collect service, as well as providing local deliveries using cargo bike. UK wide deliveries are also available.
“We believe it will be the perfect long-term home”
“When it came time to leave Anglia Square, we decided that a city centre location would be the right move for the business,” explains Graham Rutherford. “Castle Quarter has an interesting retail mix, and the location is easily accessible for our customers, so we believe it will be the perfect long-term home for Ernie’s Zero Waste Store.
“The new store provides us with plenty of space for our complete product range and we will be introducing a number of new product lines over the next few weeks. One of our customers’ favourites is our ‘make your own peanut butter’ machine and we’re hoping lots of new people will come and try this out.”
The Ernie’s Zero Waste Team of four will be on hand during opening day to introduce the store to both new and regular customers. They are skilled at helping people to embark on a zero waste shopping journey.
Rob Bradley is general manager at Castle Quarter. “Ernie’s Zero Waste Store is a perfect addition to our eclectic community of independent retail stores,” Rob comments. “Castle Quarter is Norwich’s leading social, leisure and lifestyle destination and our retail mix is growing more exciting by the day, with many specialist stores that have very dedicated customers. Ernie’s Zero Waste Store is the perfect fit for Castle Quarter and we’re looking forward to opening day on Saturday.”
