With just 30 days to go until they jet off to represent England at the Dance World Cup Finals 2025 in Spain, nine young dancers from Norwich’s Avian Dance School have taken another huge step towards their dream.
On Friday 30th May, the team completed a 10-mile sponsored walk across Norwich to raise vital funds for their upcoming trip. Starting from the Avian Dance Studios on Vulcan Road, the girls visited several local landmarks including Norwich Viewing Point, the Cathedral, Castle, Whitlingham Lake, Norwich City Football Club, and finished their walk in high spirits at Gravity Trampoline Park. Several parents also joined the effort, walking alongside the girls and cheering them on throughout the route.
“We’re so excited for Spain”
The event is the latest fundraising push to help cover the substantial costs associated with representing England at one of the world’s most prestigious dance competitions, which will see over 120,000 dancers from 66 countries compete in Burgos, Spain this July.
The Avian England squad includes: Neve Bugdale (14), Bethany Hamling (13), Rosie Jones (12), Miriam Blair (13), Kyah Quinn (11), Lucie-Mae Barrs Needham (13), Lilly Owen (12), Lottie Johnstone (13), and Kida Green (13).
“It’s truly inspiring to see how hard these girls are working”
“The walk was tough but fun and it really brought us closer together as a team,” said Lottie. “We’re so excited for Spain and grateful for everyone helping us get there.”
Founded in 2018, Avian Dance School now trains over 250 students and is led by principals Harriet Wigger, Aimee Cooper, and Lauren Stearman who are committed to nurturing not just dancers, but confident, resilient young performers.
“It’s truly inspiring to see how hard these girls are working – not only in the studio perfecting their routines, but out in the community, showing real initiative and determination to fund this incredible journey to Spain,” said Harriet. “Their drive, teamwork, and care for one another have been remarkable, and we couldn’t be prouder as they prepare to represent England on a world stage.”
Avian Dance School continues to seek sponsorships from local businesses, with several levels available offering brand exposure and community goodwill.
With just one month left, the clock is ticking but there’s still time to donate. Contributions can be made via their official GoFundMe page here: https://gofund.me/c08b328a
