For the first time in its illustrious history, Wolterton Hall will echo with the sounds of opera in what promises to be a truly unforgettable experience!
Launching Wolterton’s summer season of events in spectacular style, Wild Arts will bring Gaetano Donizetti’s beloved comic opera, The Elixir of Love, to the stunning grounds of one of Norfolk’s grandest stately homes, for one night only, on Sunday 13th July.
Set against the backdrop of Wolterton’s magnificent 18th-century landscape, with sweeping views of Charles Bridgeman’s ornamental lake, this open-air production offers a sparkling and unique summer treat, staged under canvas on the estate’s south lawns.
Performed in a witty new English translation by Joseph Morris, and directed by Guido Martin-Brandis, The Elixir of Love features a new chamber orchestration played by the world-class musicians of the Wild Arts Ensemble.
Described as an ‘Utter Delight’ by OperaNow, this joyful comic opera promises an uplifting afternoon of music, laughter and romance. Leading the cast is the dazzling Galina Averina, heading a company of eight exceptional singers.
Following the performance, guests are invited to enjoy a specially curated candlelit alfresco dinner by acclaimed local chef Alex Clare, celebrating the rich culinary heritage of Norfolk.
The evening also includes a rare opportunity to meet and mingle with the cast and musicians, an intimate finale to an extraordinary event.
