Animal lovers can take an alpaca for a walk around Castle Gardens in Norwich city centre this May, as Castle Quarter welcomes back a unique animal encounter experience.
The unicorn alpacas and friends will be at the Castle Gardens on Thursday 29th May from midday until 4pm, along with miniature horses, tortoises and many more animals too.
“We hope lots of people will turn out to give them a warm welcome”
Every school holiday, Castle Quarter plans free, family-friendly events for anyone to enjoy. There is no need to book for this event, and for a small donation, you can walk the alpacas around the gardens, with all proceeds going to the animal rescue charity they call home.
Gemma Hyde, marketing and administration manager at Castle Quarter explains; “Our visitors love the alpacas. They’re back for their fourth appearance this May, and we hope lots of people will turn out to give them a warm welcome, as they always do. On the day people will be able to meet and walk these beautiful animals, while learning more about how all the rare breeds and exotic creatures are cared for at their home in Shipmeadow, near Beccles.”
“We’ll be offering the chance to walk the friendly alpacas and handle smaller creatures too”
Kerry Nichols is the owner of Church Farm where the animals are based, and says, “It’s always great to be at Castle Quarter, where we get to meet so many friendly faces. We’ll be introducing all our beautiful animals to visitors of all ages, offering the chance to walk the friendly alpacas and handle smaller creatures too. It promises to be a fun day trip into the city for any animal lover.”
Church Farm, where the alpacas are based, is also home to Happily Ever After, an animal sanctuary specialising in rescuing and rehoming rare breeds, exotic mammals, and local wildlife. This event at Castle Quarter will help the sanctuary to raise funds, while giving children the opportunity to ask lots of questions about the different creatures they care for.
