Art Fair East marks its 10th year in style as it transforms city venue into giant art gallery.
Thousands flocked to the heart of Norwich as the region’s favourite art fair returned to the city. Hailed as the best fair to date, creatives, art lovers and everyone from rock musicians to business leaders flocked to Art Fair East in the spectacular setting of The Assembly House.
Artists, galleries and art dealers set up stand at the fair, marking its 10th year in style as it moved to the Georgian gem for the first time. As one of the most popular contemporary art fairs outside of London, organisers Brian Korteling and Will Teather said the international line-up of contemporary art drew visitors from far and wide.
“We transformed rooms across the ground floor of this Georgian gem into a giant art gallery”
Will said: “We are hugely grateful to The Assembly House for hosting our best received fair to date.
“We transformed rooms across the ground floor of this Georgian gem into a giant art gallery, sending visitors on a journey of discovery. We had everything from famous names like Damien Hirst and Banksy through to first time exhibitors like Rafail Kokkinos and Lisa Atsumi.
“I am grateful to all our team, sponsors and of course the galleries, artists and public who support our event.”
The fair annually hosts a range of contemporary art including painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, video art, installation, urban and street art and original limited-edition prints. Artists and dealers were on hand across the weekend of the fair to talk to visitors about their work, all of which was for sale.
Lee Webster from Urban Art Store said: “Being part of Art Fair East was an inspiring experience, showcasing an impressive range of talent from both emerging and established artists.
“The diversity of styles and mediums on display highlighted the vibrancy of the contemporary art scene in the region and the Fair’s welcoming atmosphere brought connections between artists, collectors, and art lovers.
“It’s a must-visit for anyone passionate about discovering fresh perspectives and supporting independent artists in East Anglia and beyond.”
Artist Emily Woodard, who is based in London, exhibited at the fair for the first time, she said: “Art Fair East was fantastic—well-organised with a great turnout. I loved meeting talented new artists, and the beautiful venue showcased the artwork perfectly!”
Jull Blakey from Buckinghamshire returned to Art Fair East for the second year, she said: “Art Fair East exceeded my expectations in every way. The stunning venue, talented artists, central location and friendly buyers really made it a brilliant experience for all involved. Thank you Norwich!”
Art Fair East will return to The Assembly House in 2025 and applications for artists to take part will open later in December 2024.
Art Fair East is sponsored by Musker McIntyre and Chadwicks. The 2024 fair saw The Assembly House join as venue sponsor.
