Handy Magazine, Costessey’s free magazine, celebrates its 4th birthday with the publication of its 20th issue!
It’s also the biggest issue yet with 36 pages of local gems, recipes, community updates and articles on everything from home and garden to motoring.
A massive thank you goes to the local businesses getting behind Handy during the pandemic and beyond, helping to fund a fantastic resource for the Costessey community.
Over the last four years more than 148,800 copies of the magazine have been delivered to Costessey, and over £540 has been given away in competition prizes such as afternoon tea for two and local shopping vouchers. Over 130 businesses have advertised, from plumbers, electricians and gardeners to taxis, opticians and estate agents.
Costessey reader Graham from Hampden View says “Great little guide keeping me informed of what’s happening in the area!” Jenna from New Costessey adds “I always enjoy the local shout out by Stevie and trying the sudoko.” Karen also in New Costessey says “Love getting Handy posted through letterbox, has great recipes and every type of trader you might ever need.”
Katie from Queen’s Hills loves the local business shout out, a recent addition to the magazine: “I saw a local shoutout for Woods Coffee Bar written by Stevie Ward and I follow her on Instagram. It was lovely to see a local food blogger writing in print!”
With Handy being available to pick up locally, sometimes our magazines travel further than just Costessey. Sandra from Little Plumstead says “I love the recipes, always try them, a tested recipe from a local is always a must.”
The magazine also helps to highlight businesses you might not know are on your doorstep. Patricia says “I’m going to Easters Bakery, didn’t know it was there.” It’s also a hit with parents, Giselle says “I was looking through the book as I have a young child, and I was pleased to see a few child activity options.”
