A Costessey-based mortgage advisor has spiced up her schedule by launching an exciting new drinks business. GG’s is a new fully stocked and licensed mobile bar and is now available for weddings, private functions, festivals and more.
GG’s is the brainchild of Gemma Thompson, 40, from Costessey, who has been a successful mortgage advisor for over 15 years. Originally looking for a mobile bar for her garden for the King’s Coronation, she came across the idea of converting a horse trailer into a fully operational bar.
Gemma was able to source a trailer from Facebook Marketplace and set to work converting it into a fully operational bar with the help of her friends. The transformation, including all necessary licenses and insurance, has cost less than £5,000. She was so pleased with the results that she decided to offer GG’s bar for hire at weddings, private functions and festivals.
GG’s bar can be tailored to the needs of the customer or event. It can be a Prosecco bar, a Gin bar or a fully stocked bar with a choice of drinks. It comes equipped with professional, friendly and experienced staff who will be on hand to keep the drinks flowing throughout the event.
“Being a mortgage advisor is very rewarding and I really enjoy helping people to secure their dream homes, but it’s not the most exciting of professions. In comparison, running GG’s bar is so much fun and I’m loving the variety that both my businesses give me. It really is a case of a mortgage advisor by day, mobile bar owner by night” explains Gemma.
GG’s bar has successfully attended a number of events in recent weeks including the NR Health Club’s Summer Fest, Kimblewick Equestrian Centre’s 25th Anniversary Party and the Dereham Town Football Club Presentation Day. Gemma is now accepting bookings for the rest of 2023 and into 2024.
