This weekend, Cromer hosted its famous Crab & Lobster Festival, with a host of seafaring fun for all the family.
The iconic town celebrated its seafaring heritage across the weekend with its Grand Opening Concert kicking off the festivities at the Pavilion Theatre on the Cromer Pier. Festival Chairman Tony Shipp said: “Following a very successful concert to a full house on Friday evening the scene was set for the rest of the festival weekend.
“A cool and misty start on Saturday turned in to a bright and sunny two days of festival activities on Evington Lawns. There was a steady flow of visitors throughout weekend enjoying music, dance and the cookery theatre together with a large array of activities for all ages.
“The festival was the second since the Covid lockdowns and has proved a great success, providing the committee with a firm basis on which to build and make the event even bigger and better in the future. My thanks go to the hard-working committee and helpers who made it all happen.
“To all who supported the event over the weekend, thank you. We look forward to seeing you again next year for another Cromer Crab & Lobster Festival and later this year for our auction and World Pier Crabbing Championships.”
The Festival’s Art Trail is still running, and visitors and locals can hunt out decorated mooring post lamps located in shop windows around Cromer, Sheringham and surrounding villages.
The lamps have been decorated by artists and will be displayed all summer before being auctioned off in August.
Leaflets for the art trail are available in local tourist information centres.
The festival’s auction will be accompanied by the World Pier Crabbing Championships on Sunday 25th August. There will be stalls, music, crab competitions and prizes. The auction of mooring post lamps will take place from 12noon.
